Thorens TD 145 MkII
First turntable I bought here. One of the classic series of turntables from Thorens, the TD 145 Mk2, with not the absolute best platter version, but a good arm, the TP 16 Mk III. Bought second hand in the 1990s. Replaced the fitted Linn K9 cartridge with an Ortofon (model similar to the 510 series, special production for Germany, the Vinyl Master White. Could never get it to sound good. On loan to a friend.
Hitachi PS-38
Direct drive turntable. Bought off ebay small ads. Hitachi never built turntables, badge engineering was quite common in Japan. It seems very nicely made, (by CEC, check the BD-5200). Has a very good cartridge fitted, a Dynavector, see Pro-ject text. Always sounds to be punching above its class. There is just something I like about this table, probably the style.
Perpetuum Ebner PE-34
Perpetuum Ebner PE34. Was given this turntable some years ago. More suitable for 10" records, large overlap with 12" discs. Difficult to find the spare rubber drive wheel. Otherwise seems ok. Xtal cartridge will have to be replaced if I ever use the turntable again. Same model was used as part of a stereogram, I believe.
Pro-ject 2 Xperience Acryl
One of the multitude of models from Pro-ject. Looks the business with a clear perspex platter. Short 9cc arm. Removed the older Dynavector cartridge, previous owner couldn't tell me how old it was since he had bought the table as an ex-demo. I've fitted a Goldring 1022 which I'm extremely happy with.
Dual CS-505
This belonged to my dear friend, I had cleaned it up, serviced it, replaced the belt and needle (cartridge was OM-20, but fitted an -10 needle, and bought a Project preamp for her. Sadly she is no longer with us.
